Power Quality Measurements
INTRODUCTION
wind turbines will be determined. The power quality measurements give the base for
assessment of the grid connection of wind turbines and wind farms. There are three existing
guidelines, which give the requirements of the measurements: the IEC 61400-21 [1], the
Measnet Power Quality Procedure [2] and the German guideline [3].
The requirements of these guidelines will be described and will be compared. The
measurement procedures, what to measure and how to measure, will be explained. The data
sheets of the different guidelines will be shown. The experience from our own
measurements and possibly problems of the measurements will be given.
Some examples of power quality measurements for different types of wind turbines will be
given and typical behaviours of wind turbines will be discussed.
Some general information will be given, how to use the data of the power quality
measurements for the assessment of the grid connection of wind turbines and wind farms.
