TYPE & DEFINITION
The model plane is a simple cruising RC plane with a desired cruise speed of 10m/s. The airfoil chosen for this purpose is NACA s1223 having coefficient of lift equal to 1.2 for an angle of attack equal to 0deg at 50,000 Reynold’s number. The airplane is designed to carry an initial load of 0.8kg with an upward thrust equal to 8.79N.
WING
The dimension of the wing is 90*15 with a buffer of 5 for fuselage. The Aspect Ratio for the chosen wing is 6. Aspect Ratio is defined as ratio of square of wing span to wing area. The wing is mainly composed of airfoils stacked parallel with spars running along wing which provides both torsional rigidity and bending strength.
The plan form for wing is as shown in fig1. The aileron designed is the strip aileron having a width of 40*3. The plane is a high wing model.
