INTRODUCTION
In fluid distribution systems there are various pressure stages
During fluid pumping, pressure may rise upto 16 bars
Normal plastic pipes will not with stand this pressure
Resently for pressures up to about 10 bar, plastic pipeline materials were preferred .
a suitable plastic pipeline system for pressures up to 16 bar was not available
In this paper a reinforced thermoplastic pipeline (RTP) system will be described.
REINFORCEMENT
a process of strengthening.
There is positive and negative reinforcements:
Positive reinforcement: adding of a catalytic stimulus to increase a certain behavior or response.
Negative reinforcement: the taking away of an aversive stimulus to increase certain behaviour or response.
Reinforced Thermoplastic pipes
A cost effective alternative to using steel
A high pressure pipeline system resistant to corrosion
Reels can hold long lengths of pipe
Corrosion of steel pipelines costs the oil and gas industry billions of dollars
Reinforced Thermoplastic Pipe (RTP) combines the best features of both
Allows high operating pressures
Significantly better economics than steel pipe
