A remote controlled weapon system (RWS) is a weapon station for the light and medium caliber weapons which can be remotely controlled. This platform can be installed on any type of vehicle or any other platforms. Many modern millitary vehicles use this system as the controller can remain inside the vehicle where there is protection. Some of these weapon systems can be fitted onto the existing army vehicles without much modification to the vehicle itself. The CROWS system is an example. It is used with the american army's humvees and also the and the Thales SWARM for Bushmaster IMVs of the Royal Netherlands Army. State of the art Remote Controlled Weapon Systems (RCWS) have
-Stabilised weapon and sighting system -Auto-tracker -Fire Control System -Low profile/ lightweight etc. The digital control architecture provides a stabilized weapons platform for ‘fire on the move’ capability. A video autotracker is also included. Optimised solutions are generated for a variety of operational requirements because of the modular design used. Examples include the REMAX(brazil), Nanuk Weapon Station(canada), Typhoon Weapon System(israel) etc. get the details here: http://en.wikipediawiki/Remote_weapon_system http://www.selex-sasEN/Common/files/SELEX_Galileo/Products/ENFORCER.pdf
