Introduction to the Topic
Training Analysis (sometimes called Training Needs Analysis (TNA) is the formal process of identifying the training gap and its related training need.
Training can be described as “the acquisition of skills, concepts or attitudes that result in improved performance within the job environment”. Training analysis looks at each aspect of an operational domain so that the initial skills, concepts and attitudes of the human elements of a system can be effectively identified and appropriate training can be specified.
Training analysis as a process often covers:
• Review of current training
• Task analysis (of new or modified system)
• Identification of training gap
• Statement of training requirement
• Assessment of training options
• Cost benefit analysis of training options
Training Analysis is most often used as part of the system development process. Due to the close tie between the design of the system and the training required, in most cases it runs alongside the development to capture the training requirements.
An analysis of training need is an essential requirement to the design of effective training. The purpose of training need analysis is to determine whether there is a gap between what is required for effective performance and present level of performance.
objective
The objective of this project is to analyze and assess the training needs and create a plan to satisfy the needs. The results of training needs analysis will highlight the subject matter needed to be covered during the training course. The knowledge and skills gained during the training will increase abilities and allow the employees to perform their jobs at an acceptable level. The needs assessment is quite simple and obvious. For example, when a new information system is introduced, it is assumed that no one has the knowledge to operate it and the training need is noted. However if the organization was switching systems, the need may not be so obvious. By conducting training needs analysis we target the group that needs to be trained as well as hone in on exactly what training is required.
About the Industry
The global logistics industry is estimated to be worth USD 300 billion. Though most of the large service providers are headquartered in Europe, the biggest market is the US, which captures about one-third of the world market. The global logistics industry is characterized by high costs of operations, low margins, shortage of talent, infrastructural bottlenecks, demand from clients for investing in technology and providing one-stop solutions to all their needs, and consolidation through acquisitions, mergers and alliances.
Though in India, the industry is still in its infancy, there is immense potential for growth. The Indian logistics industry is currently plagued with low demand, poor infrastructure, high costs, government regulations etc. However, it is going to turn around on the back of robust GDP growth, globalization, FDI in logistics and increasing government support. Logistics industry in India is an industry that has not achieved its much deserved attention or recognition. It is an area that is ripe with potential and yet the resources are far from complete utilizations. There is however a huge demand for logistic services in India especially with the growth of the Indian economy along with the influx of new companies in sectors that was otherwise unknown. Estimated at a value of $14 billion US dollars this industry is slated for another 9% to 10% growth in the years to come.
