Abstract
In the rapidly flourishing country like ours, accidents in the unmanned level crossings are increasing day by day. No fruitful steps have been taken so far in these areas. This project deals with automatic railway gate operation (i.e.) implemented in unmanned level crossings at remote areas. Detection of train approaching the gate can be sensed by means of four IR sensors. Two IR sensors are used for gate control and the other two sensors for the station indication. One set of RF is used for control of the train for the movement of train i.e., start or stop. Stepper motor is used for controlling the gate operation i.e., open or close. This can be implemented in manned level crossings also, as manual errors can be eliminated by automation.
Description:
The arrival of the train to reach the level crossing is sensed by the sensor R1 placed of either side of the gate at about 5 km from the level crossing. So, the arrival of the train is sensed by the either side of the sensor and then the sensed signal is sent to the micro controller. When the Micro controller receives the signal from the IR, that output is encoded and send to the RF Transmitter.
The RF Receiver gets the encoded information from the RF Transmitter through antenna. The information from the RF Receiver is decoded and is the sent to the Micro controller for the control operation of the train i.e., to start or stop. DC Motor is used to drive the train.
The other two sets of IR’s are used for the gate control operation i.e., to open of close the gate. Stepper motor is used for the control operation of the gate and the information near the gate is also displayed using the 16*2 Alphanumeric LCD.
