Abstracts: In the pipe manufacturing company Ratnamani Metals and tubes Ltd., we came across the gas metal arc welding process which is used for pipe manufacturing by welding two end surfaces of the stainless steel or carbon steel plates. This company manufactures pipes having diameter of 12-48 inches. With distinctive approach towards the gas metal arc welding, an elaborated study was made on the method of welding. Even though the process of gas metal arc welding is technically faultless, still there are some welding defects left and detected after the pipe manufactures. The co2 whole line welding is done directly before the inside and outside welding. As this process is directly in contact with the atmosphere the moisture factor affects it heavily. Which sometimes be the major factor for discontinuities occurrence. In inside and outside welding of the plate automatic welding machine which uses ac and dc current for better penetration of the electrode and to increase the speed of the weld. It uses hot flux material as the shield for the welding. This flux material can be the cause of the slag inclusion and the voltage used in, can also create discontinuities. So in order to eliminate this problems we are trying to make possible changes or any modifications on the flux material. We also focusing on the electric voltage range as well as the gase that are used for the base welding before the inside and outside. Also we are trying to make certain feasible solutions which can make the welding more easy and defect less.
