This project aims to build the automatically wiper system by using Mechanical and electronic devices. This system is called automatic rain operated wiper system using sensor and controller system. The advantage of this project was help users to use the wiper automatically when the sensor detects raindrops. Driver doesn’t need to turn on or turn off the control stalk at the wiper. This system will function automatically when the raindrops. Sensor use to senses the raindrop or moisture when it hitting on sens. The system is automatic because it has to be actuated for the first time. The system is developed using 8051 microcontroller. The principle revolves around the rate of flow of water in a cup. Corresponding to the rate of flow of water and the volume of the water, three levels of wiper speeds have been achieved. The mechanical function is used to control the motor system. By using this system, user doesn’t control the wiper system manually and this system
functions using controller system.
INTRODUCTION
The Automatic rain operated wiper system is a fully automation project. This is an era of automation where it is broadly defined as replacement of manual effort by mechanical power in all degrees of automation. The operation remains an essential part of the system although with changing demands on physical input as the degree of mechanization is increased. A windscreen wiper or windshield wiper is a device used to remove rain and debris from a windscreen. Almost all motor vehicle, including trains, aircraft and watercraft, are equipped with such wipers, which are usually an essential requirement.
NEED FOR AUTOMATION:
In the present automobiles the number of facilities is much higher. The driver has to concentrate on road while driving, and with increased traffic, things get frustrating. The features in the car like GPRS to trace the route, music system, air condition system etc may drive away the attention of the driver. Thus an effort has been made to reduce the effort put by driver in controlling the speed of the wiper and put more concentration on his driving.
Since this system is put into use in many higher end cars and has been successfully working, an effort was made to reduce the cost of the system so that this system can be implemented in common economic cars where a common man can also enjoy the benefits.
Automation can be achieved through computers, hydraulics, pneumatics, robotics, etc., of these sources, pneumatics form an attractive medium for low cost automation.
Types of Sensors
A sensor classified as a combination of passive, n on-scanning and non-imaging method is a type of profile recorder, for example a microwave radiometer. A sensor classified as passive, non-scanning and imaging method, is a camera, such as an aerial survey camera or a space camera.
Sensors are classified as a combination of passive, scanning and imaging are classified further into image plane scanning sensors, such as TV cameras and solid state scanners, and object plane scanning sensors, such as multi-spectral scanners (optical-mechanical scanner) and scanning microwave radiometers.
OPTICLE SENSORS
Optical sensor emits ray which will be reflected by the windshield at 450at normal conditions.
During raining if the amount of water in windshield is more the light reflected at an angle which will increase the speed of wiper motor to avoid the lesser visibility of driver
If the amount of water is less it will reflect an angle which will decrease the speed of wiper motor to avoid the scratching of wind shield
Rain-sensing wipers
Vehicles are now available with driver programmable intelligent (automatic) windscreen wipers that detect the presence and amount of rain using a rain sensor. The sensor automatically adjusts the speed and frequency of the blades according to the amount of rain detected. These controls usually have a manual override.
