SELF BALANCING MECHANISM FOR TWO WHEELERS PROJECT REPORT
ABSTRACT
Motorized two-wheelers like scooters, small capacity motorcycles and mopeds are very popular mode of transport due to their fuel efficiency and ease of use in congested traffic. The number of two-wheelers sold is several times that of cars.
There were 4.75 crore (47.5 million) powered two-wheelers in India in 2003 compared with just 86 lakh (8.6 million) cars. There are around 200 million motorcycles (including mopeds, motor scooters, motorized bicycles, and other powered two and three-wheelers) in use worldwide, or about 33 motorcycles per 1000 people.
We may have seen in the roads that many people driving two wheelers will be struggling to balance the bike or scooter at slow speeds, especially the women and beginners. This project is an new idea to make the vehicle as self balancing so that the driver don’t need to take use his legs for supporting the bike till he reaches his destination place.
Hence the mechanism will balance the bike at slow speeds the driver can efficiently access the brake (foot brake rear) and gear levers. At present bikes it is almost impossible to use the foot brake (rear) while up hilling. But with a self balancing mechanism it is possible to use the rear foot brake at all conditions. The balancing mechanism in the bike will also neglect the use of stand (side/ center) which has to be pulled by the driver to park the bike.
