ABSTRACT:-
Self Compacting Concrete is an innovative concrete that does not require vibration for placing and compaction. It is able to flow under its own weight, completely filling formwork and achieving full compaction, even in the presence of congested reinforcement. The hardened concrete is dense, homogeneous and has the same engineering properties and durability as traditional vibrated concrete.
It can be used for Reduced damage to health, improved efficiency, close meshed reinforcement, complex geometric shapes, slender components, generally where compaction is difficult, fast installation rates, noise reduction.
Engineering Benefits of Self Compacting Concrete are for better surface finishes, easier placing, improved durability, greater freedom in design, thinner concrete sections, ease of filling restricted sections, hard to reach areas, encapsulate congested reinforcement, allows for innovative architectural features, homogenous and uniform concrete, better reinforcement bonding.
Application of Self Compacting Concrete results in a large playoff in not requiring vibration to achieve consolidation and low noise level to meet stringent environmental requirements in urban and suburban construction sites. Lesser labour and speedier construction will result in substantial cost savings, less traffic disruption and risk reduction. Better durability and high strength will allows the engineer to design and build bridges to last a century to beyond.
