Aim of the project
To fabricate the foot step with pumping mechanism.
To fabricate the door opening and closing mechanism to crank the link to operate the reciprocating air pump.
To fabricate the air tank to hold the pressurized air from both the pumps through non return valves.
Introduction
It has been a long standing interest of we humans to extract energy for free, the consumption of non renewable energy and its rapid scarcity has caused more environmental damage than any other human activity .Hence in this competent era and to stand strong against the economical breakdown’s , it has been a must interest of every country to become self reliant
In here we put light on the following self reliant energy generation resources
Energy from revolving door - This activity of opening and closing is some operation or action which we intend to convert into rotary and convert the energy to generate power to give the power supply to the surroundings.
Energy generation from Foot Steps - We are using the foot stamping on the footstep fixed on the public places where thousands of people ply in and out .Using this energy we can compress air through piston in a chamber and in case of necessity be directed on micro turbine for power generation .
Principle
It is based on the principle of production of dynamically (or motionally) induced e.m.f (Electromotive Force). Whenever a conductor cuts magnetic flux, dynamically induced e.m.f. is produced in it according to Faraday's Laws of Electromagnetic Induction. This e.m.f. causes a current to flow if the conductor circuit is closed.
Hence, the basic essential parts of an electric generator are :
A magnetic field and
A conductor or conductors which can so move as to cut the flux.
The micro turbine is mounted on the armature shaft which is rotated by the air pressure to cut the magnetic flux to generate the power which is stabilized for the constant voltage and then stored in the battery.
Working Methodology
When a person steps on this mechanized foot step below which air pressure pump is fixed with the spring retention system, the piston is pushed down within the cylinder making the pressurized air to enter the non return valve to the storage tank. The piston is pushed down by approximately 40mm and the air of that volume is stored into the tank and whenever we need power, can open the valve to force expand the air through the jet on the micro turbine fixed on the axle of the DC generator to generate power which can light the surroundings.
The door frame with door is provided and the link mechanism is pushing the piston of the air pump which is hinged to the frame and smallest opening of closing of the door action will operate the pump to fill the air into the tank through the non return valve.
This air pressure and power generation does not incur any recurring expenses
We are giving the battery of 6 volts which is getting charged by the rotation of the door axle. We have provided the changeover switch which by passes and disconnects the battery connection and the lights will be glowing to show the output of the generator. We are also providing the invertor circuit to put on the 10WCFL bulb in emergency.
Advantages , Disadvantages
Advantages
The normal door opening and closing action is converted, without adding any extra effort for the present system.
Such tiny units for electricity producing will cater the individual electricity needs which makes them self reliant and not depending on the government electricity board.
Free energy which is converted by no added effort.
Air pressure is accumulated into the storage chamber or drum and energy can be generated whenever required and can also can be stored in the storage batteries which can be later utilized whenever required.
Maintenance will be negligible, only lubricating the piston rod and the turbine rotating parts.
Disadvantages
Pressure leakage will drain the air being produced.
More storage area is required to stock the pressurized air.
Conclusion
Self reliant power generation using door and footstep is another alternate source of power generation . The concept makes use of the same common principle of driving the turbine (dynamo here) using some potential source like steam , high pressure water here the source is compressed air. This project is simple in operation and economical. One of the most advantageous thing of this project is that the existing arrangement of door and footstep are not altered.
