Introduction
Nowadays, power places a vital role in human basic needs.
The electrical energy is mostly used in every aspects of life.
Self sustaining power generator finds application in providing endless power supply to meet our demand.
These generators would adapt with the
existing system.
Generator
Electric generator is a device that converts mechanical energy to electrical energy
Any one of a.c. and d.c. generators can be used.
Using alternating current is easy and comprises simple circuit.
A.c. generators are also called as alternators
Alternating current can be directly stepped up using the transformer.
But in case of direct current ,inverters and rectifiers should be used which forms the circuit complex and adds to the cost.
Moreover the direct current cannot be directly stepped up using the transformer because transformer works only on a.c.
Motor
The reverse conversion of electrical energy into mechanical energy is done by an electric motor
The motor can be choosed based on the type of generator used.
The a.c motors would have more percentage of slip when compared to d.c motors
D.c motors can be used for alternators but it needs rectifier circuit.
Transformer
A transformer is a device that transfers electric power from one circuit to another.
It does so without a change of frequency.
It accomplishes this by electromagnetic induction
There are two types of transformer
Both Step up transformer and step down transformers are required for the self generator.
Power source
For self powered generator,a power source is necessary to initialize the self generation.
The power source may be electric energy
Auxillary engine with clutch assembly
Auxillary engine generator.
Need for self power generator
Self power generator is required to produce the electrical energy without using the conventional fuels
There it reduces the pollution and avoids the maximum power consumption from the electric grid.
Electrical circuit
Description
First the power from the grid is utilized for initiating the power generation
Power is regulated through regulator and supplied to the motor
Since the motor is coupled with the generator through gears, the speed of the generator is twice more than the speed of the motor.
Electric power is produced in generator and the output a.c power is stepped up through the transformer and received at step down transformer in parallel action.
Power from one step down transformer is dirrectly used for home applications.
Then the power from another step down transformer is used to run the motor.
The power to the motor can be changed from the line supply to generator power through the switching panel.
