SAFETY IN MINES
In the systematic mining of mineral deposits, safety of workmen constitutes a
very important factor. Mining disturbs the natural equilibrium and therefore invites
movement of strata causing roof falls and side falls, releases inflammable and noxious
gases trapped in the mineral bed, releases vast amount of strata water and spontaneous
combustion of coal in susceptible atmospheric confinement.
SCCL has laid down a safety policy and its salient features include minimising of mining hazards,
implementation of statutory regulations, imparting of continuous education, training of all employees with
accent placed on development of safety oriented skills and continuous efforts to better working conditions.
