What is Clad Plate?
A clad Plate is a bimetallic product which combines the properties of the backing and cladding materials
The backing provides the strength and impact resistance of high Quality carbon and alloyed steels
The corrosion resistance is given by cladding which is generally made of corrosion resistant stainless steel or nickel alloys
Advantage of Clad Plate
Combine the High strength of the Backing material with the corrosion resistance of the cladding
Weight savings
Lower cost
Better Thermal conductivity and lower thermal expansion
Used in all types of Pressure Vessels
Clad Plate Welding?
In Pressure vessels fabrication joining of two clad plates by overlay welding
Full weld overlay on the Carbon Plate in absence of Clad Plate
To avoid corrosion on the Plate during sour service use clad overlay welding in fluid/lethal contact areas.
How to make the Quality Welding
Use the Various Internationl standards like ASME,BS etc., to Qualify the WPS & PQR for Good Weldability
What is WPS?
A Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) is a written document that provides direction to the welder or welding operator for making Production welds accordance to the various code requirements

Details joint and materials to be welded,
Process(SMAW,GTAW,SAW etc., method, Current, Voltage and equipment to be used

What is PQR?
The Procdeure Qualification Record (PQR) documents what occurred during welding the Test coupon and the test result of testing of the Test Coupon as per Various International standards.
Demonstrates that a test weld has the required mechanical properties
Proves that the procedure meets statutory requirements
