WHAT IS SOLAR THERMAL ENERGY?
Solar thermal energy is a form of energy in which the sun is used to produce heat which can be utilized in a variety of ways. Solar thermal energy is a technology for harnessing solar energy for thermal energy .
PHOTOVOLTAIC CELLA
solar cell (also called photovoltaic cell or photoelectric cell) is a solid state electrical device that converts the energy of light directly into electricity by the photovoltaic effect.
PARABOLIC TROUGHS
It is the most powerful type of collector which concentrates sunlight at a single, focal point, via one or more parabolic dishes—arranged in a similar fashion to a reflecting telescope focuses starlight, or a dish antenna focuses radio waves. This geometry may be used in solar furnaces and solar power plants.
SOLAR POWER TOWERS
The solar power tower (also known as 'central tower' power plants or 'heliostat' power plants or power towers) is a type of solar furnace using a tower to receive the focused sunlight. It uses an array of flat, movable mirrors (called heliostats) to focus the sun's rays upon a collector tower (the target). Concentrated solar thermal is seen as one viable solution for renewable, pollution free energy production with currently available technology.
SOLAR PONDSA
solar pond is simply a pool of saltwater which collects and stores solar thermal energy. The saltwater naturally forms a vertical salinity gradient also known as a "halocline", in which low-salinity water floats on top of high-salinity water. The layers of salt solutions increase in concentration (and therefore density) with depth. Below a certain depth, the solution has a uniformly high salt concentration.
CONCLUSION
1. AS THERE IS AN ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF SUNLIGHT SO WE CAN USE IT AS A MAIN SOURCE OF ELECTRICITY.
2. IT IS A POLLUTION FREE AND RELIABLE SOURCE OF ELECTRICITY.
3.WE CAN USE PHOTOVOLTAIC TECHNOLOGY TO PRODUCE LARGE AMOUNT OF ELECTRICITY.
4. ENVIRONMENT FRIENDLY SOURCEOF ELECTRICITY
