What is Stepper Motor
A Stepper Motor is a widely used device that translates Electrical Pulses into Mechanical movement
A Stepper Motor or a step motor is a brushless, synchronous motor which divides a full rotation into a number of steps.
Unlike a brushless DC motor which rotates continuously when a fixed DC voltage is applied to it, a step motor rotates in discrete step angles
How a stepper motor works
When the stators are energized the rotor moves to align itself along with the stator (in case of a permanent magnet type stepper) or moves to have a minimum gap with the stator (in case of a variable reluctance stepper).
Types of Stepper Motor
1. Permanent Magnet Stepper :
It commonly have a permanent magnet rotor (also called the shaft),surrounded by a stator
Bipolar :
In bipolar stepper there is single winding per pole. The direction of current need to be changed by the driving circuit so the driving circuit of the bipolar stepper becomes complex.
8051 Microcontroller
In 1981 Intel Corporation introduced an 8-bit Microcontroller called the 8051
This Microcontroller had 128 bytes of RAM and 4k bytes of on-chip ROM, two timers ,one serial port and four ports(each 8-bits wide)all on a single chip. At the time it was also referred to as “system on chip”.
CPU can work on only 8-bits of Data at a time
8051 can have a maximum of 64k bytes of on chip ROM but many manufacturers using 4k bytes on the chip.
