Introduction
RADAR Systems
Radar is an object-detection system.
Uses radio waves to determine the range, altitude, direction, or speed of objects.
consists of ………
transmitting antenna emitting electromagnetic radiation generated by an oscillator of some sort.
a receiving antenna.
an energy-detecting device,
or receiver.
Searching and Tracking RADAR system
STR (Searching and Tracking Radar) system measures the coordinates of a target
STR can track in range, angle or with any combination.
Determines target’s location in range and can also predict where it will be in future.
Searching and Acquisition
Finding target
Continuous STRs operate in an acquisition mode in order to find the target.
Search using
Single radar
Separate Radar
Tracking
Antenna faces the target all the time in order to keep it in the center of the beam.
Radar can also provide tracking information to determine the path of the target and predict its future position.
Automatic detection & track(ATD)
This perform tracking as a part of an air surveillance radar.
The rate at which the observations are made depends on the time for the antenna to make one rotation.
Therefore these type of tracking radars are having low data rates compare to single tracking radar.
It can simultaneously track large number of targets.
Phased array tracking
A large number of targets can be tracked with high data rates by an electronically steered phased array radar.
Multiple tracked on a time under the computer control since the beam is electronically scanned array can be switched rapidly from one angular direction to another.
IT gives the rapid update rate of multiple trcked targets.
