ABSTRACT:
Personal identification number (PIN) is a common user authentication method widely used for ATMs and mobile phones. However, an attacker can obtain the PIN easily by looking over a user’s shoulder. We present a new PIN entry method which makes this kind of attack significantly harder.
EXISTING SYSTEM:
Personal identification number (PIN) is a common method to authenticate a user for various devices including automatic teller machines (ATMs), mobile phones, PDAs, door locks, and so on.
ADVANTAGES:
• Security is achieved through this pin mechanisms so, that user accounts are not tracked.
• Used in various devices like automatic teller machines (ATMs), mobile phones, PDAs, door locks, and so on.
DISADVANTAGES:
• If someone observes the input procedure by looking over a user’s shoulder or using a tiny camera, he can easily obtain the PIN. This kind of attack is called ‘shoulder surfing attack (SSA).’
• In order to solve this problem RRF method is used but, this method is not practical because it requires too much time to enter PIN digits and it suffers from high error probabilities
PROPOSED SYSTEM:
We present a new PIN entry method with an easier input procedure.
ADVANTAGES:
• It requires a user to perform far less mental tasks than the RRF method.
• It significantly reduces error probability and PIN entry time.
• Our method requires7.30 to 12.75 seconds for authentication, i.e., it is about twice as fast as the RRF method in all settings,
USERS OF THE SYSTEM:
TECHNICAL FEASIBILITY:
HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS:
PC with minimum
• 2 GB Hard Disk
356 MB RAM
SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS:
• C#.Net Compact Framework3.5
• SQL Server 2000 /Oracle 8
• Windows XP
• Web server IIS
MODULES:
• Pass-object setting stage:
• User is given familiar objects with digits
• User recognizes the symbol of his PIN and remembers the pass-object
PIN entry stage:
• Contains three sub stages In each sub stage user is given the objects .
• User will enter the pin by rotating the array and aligning the pass object.
