Abstract:
In this seminar the analysis of soil-structure interaction effects and of multiple support excitation on the seismic response of long-span cable-supported bridges are presented. The purpose of this seminar is to provide a better understanding of the dynamic performance of cable supported bridges under earthquake excitation, considering the spatial variability of the ground motion and the complex phenomena of soil-bridge interaction, so that such effects can be included in the design and rehabilitation process. Amplification of structural displacements and internal forces will prove that neglecting soil-structure interaction effects leads to inaccurate and unsafe design procedures
