INTRODUCTION:-
Pulse code modulation is known as a digital modulation technique.
The pulse code modulation is quite complex campared to the analog modulation
technique (i.e. PAM,PWM,PPM) in the sense that the message signal is subjected
to great number of operations.
PCM is the type of pulse modulation like
PAM,PWM,PPM but there is an important difference between them.PAM,PWM,
PPM are analog pulse modulation systems whereas Pulse code modulation (PCM)
is digital pulse modulation system.
In other words, Pulse code modulation is a
technique of converting contineous time signal i.e. analog signal into descrete
time signal i.e. digital signal. Basically there are two main techniques involved
for conversion of signal from contineous time signal to descrete time signal are
Delta modulaton and Pulse code modulation(PCM).This technique is widely used
and played a significant role in digital communication.
Conlusion:-
In Pulse modulation system(PAM),pulse ducation modulation (PDM),and pulse
-positon modulation(PPM),only time is expressed in descrete form where as
Respective modulation parameters are varied in a continuous manner in
accordance with the message.Due to this there is ruggedness to transmission
noise and Interference, efficient regeneration of the coded signal along the
transmission path and there is a possibility of a uniform format for different
kinds of baseband signals.
