Aim:
To conduct the experiment of single phase voltage controller and to observe the waveforms at different firing angles.
Precaution:
(i) Before the connection check the main and kit power supply’s condition.
(ii) Check the fuse.
(iii)Check the CRO probes polarity.
Theory:
Procedure:
Connection procedure:
Single phase Half wave AC voltage controller (Uni Directional):
(i) The kit Phase terminal is connected to the Thyrister anode terminal.
(ii) Thyrister cathode terminal is connected to the input of the load.
(iii) The load output terminal is connected to the kit neural terminal.
(iv) Connect the CRO probes across the load.
Single phase Full wave AC voltage controller (Bi Directional):
(i) The kit Phase terminal is connected to the Thyrister 1(T1) anode terminal and Thyrister2
(T2) cathode terminal.
(ii)T1 cathode terminal is connected to the load input and to the Thyrister 2 (T2) Anode
terminal.
(iii) Load output is connected to the Kit Neutral terminal.
(iv) Connect the CRO probes across the load.
Experimental procedure:
(i) Vary the firing angle from 0 degree to 180 degree.
(ii) Observe the waveforms from the CRO.
(iii) The turn on time and turn off time values are tabulated.
