PWD (B & R) is the public works department (buildings and roads). Public works department is a premier agency of state government for construction of roads, buildings and bridges in the state. The department also acts as the technical advisor to the state government activity. The PWD (B&R) has been entrusted by the state government to undertake primarily the task such as Construction and maintenance of new roads and bridges, Design, Construction and maintenance of govt. buildings, Undertaking deposit contribution works relating to different departments of government of Punjab, Fixation of rent of private premises requisitioned for housing government officers, Reservation of government rest houses and circuit houses, Design, construction, maintenance and repairs of runway relating to aviation department.

All R.C.C. work according to IS 456 : 2000 All reinforcement work by Fe 500 (500 N/mm2 tensile strength) according to IS 1786-85 Concrete used: M25 for all RCC structural members. Steel shuttering to be used for all R.C.C. works. The brickwork shall commence only after the completion of RCC framework.
