SCSI Bus
SCSI generally is a fast bus that can connect lots of devices to a computer at the same time
The basic SCSI bus can connect up to seven devices and 1 host adapter on it
If the bus uses 3 address lines it gives you a possibility of 8 addresses. Each device will be assigned a SCSI address from 0 to 7
Each address is assigned a priority, where 7 (the host adapter) has the top priority and 0 being the lowest priority.
SCSI Hard Drives
SCSI is not very popular among Hard drives
Two fast SCSI standards for video capture and playback are:
Ultra2 LVD (Low Voltage Differential) SCSI: Ultra2 LVD SCSI disk drives offer fast enough performance to capture and output video at high data rates.
Why SCSI is not popular in PCs
SCSI disks are seldom used in desktop PCs because they cost more than ATA disks with similar capacity and performance
In addition to the higher cost of SCSI drives, using a SCSI drive requires installing a SCSI host adapter, which may add $50 to $300 to system cost.
Also modern ATA hard disks—whether PATA or SATA—are inexpensive, large, fast, standardized, and well-supported by PCs.
