For the last eight years, the solar industry has experienced annual growth of over 40%.
Concerns over the rising costs of conventional energy, as well as its environmentally damaging effects, have been driving this vigorous investment in solar energy
Now, with grid parity almost upon us, the solar industry is reassessing what it will look like as a commoditized, mainstream power source
In order for people to make the switch, solar technology needs to be cheap
But the cost of Solar Panels mainly depend on the cost of Silicon used, which is very expensive.
So Solaria struck upon an elegant solution with its monocrystalline panels: Use 50 to 70 percent less silicon.
Rather than covering the entire module with PV panels, Solaria leverages a patterned-glass lens to refocus light onto a strip of solar cells
Since less Silicon is used one-third less than a solar panel of comparable efficiency.
