Sripada Yellampalli irrigation project

ABSTRACT
The project is designed to utilise about 63 tmc of water at a cost of Rs. 900 crores in the first phase. In the second phase, about 49.5 tmc would lifted to the upland regions of Karimnagar, Adilabad, Nizamabad, Warangal and Medak districts. After the flood gates are installed, the project would could save about 20 tmctf of water. Presently, the project was storing only 3.5 tmctf of water.
The project would supply water of NTPC power project reservior in Ramagundam mandal in Karimnagar. It is started on 2005 near murmoor and yellampally village. So many agriculture people and labours loss by this project.
The NTPC, which is currently using the SRSP waters, would use the Yellampally project water. With this, the SRSP waters could be utilised for creating an additional 50,000 acres of ayacut in the Manthany and Medaram segments of district. The authorities are also conteplating lifting the Yellampalli waters to Mancherial town for proving drinking water.
It was known that total of six villages including 2,382 families would be affected due to the submergence under the project’s water. Potial and Mandrial villages in Ramagundam would be completely submerged under the project , while Yellampalli and Murmur villages in Ramagundam mandal and Namnur and Gudipet villages in Adilabad district would be submerged partially. A total of 4,916 hectares of land would be submerged under the project.
