The Log-In Screen In Student Attendance Monitoring System
Before you can start using the Student Attendance Monitoring System (SAMS), you must
first log-in at http://student-attendance-monitoring.nottingham.ac.uk/ using Microsoft
Internet Explorer. The following section will show you how to do this. When you first run
the SAMS, you will be presented with the following log-in screen.
Step-by-Step
1. Select the School and Qualification Category which you want to report, using the
pull-down menus of each box.
2. If you want all the students in a School to be shown, select the School in the pull-
down menu, and keep the Qualification Category as Select Qualification Category.
3. If you are not satisfied with your selection, press reset button to empty the boxes.
4. Select Report Attendance in the pull-down menu against Action box.
5. Click on the Go button
6. You will then be presented with the Attendance Reporting screen.
Change of interaction attendance status.
The interaction attendance status of each student has to be reported by their home
School, as it appears on Saturn. You will see a number of interaction attendance pull-
down menus following each student’s information, and four attendance values in each
pull-down menu:
Y In Attendance
A Authorised Absence.
This value should be used by Schools when a
student is known to be absent, with permission, for a short period of time,
such as for a short term illness, or when a student isn’t expected to be
engaging with their course for that interaction, for example, students who are
not expected to attend or submit any assessment for semester one. It is not
expected that this value be used by Schools for two or more consecutive
interactions. In such cases it may be more appropriate for the student to be
suspended.
