The knitting behavior of each yarn is different for example; the knitting behavior of the textured yarn is determined by the tension with-stand during knitting, without resulting in a fault. As the textured yarn is knitted into fabric, it is generally in its extended uncrimped state. When the fabric leaves the needle or the machine and is relaxed, the yarn in each loops contracts. Hence the fabric contracts in its dimension (length and width) changes. Similarly the characteristics of each type of yarn i.e. ATT yarn, crimp yarn, twisted yarn etc have different effect on fabric properties. All yarn characteristics may not be playing key role in deciding knitting performance of a yarn, out of all the yarn characteristics count, twist, frictional behavior, knots, yarn defects and yarn strength are playing some critical role on deciding knitting performance of a yarn. The present work aims at understanding the behavior of different varieties of polyester yarn and their influence on properties of circular knitted fabric.
