The unique property of this spandex fiber is its high stretch ability and extension recovery. Inspite of these, the spandex cannot be used in its bare form for the apparel sector because it lacks the properties of feel, comfort, moisture absorbency etc which are necessary when fabric is next to skin. Hence core yarns are produced with spandex at centre and it covered by some other material like cotton, polyester. P/C etc. so that it can exhibit both the properties stretch due to lycra at core and comfort, moisture, absorbency cover etc due to sheath material, which can be used for multiple end uses like stretchable denim jeans, baby undergarments, shoe linings, socks etc. However, the properties of yarn change with change in lycra denier or the covering material, twist, draft etc. The present work aims at understanding the influence of different covering materials and different deniers of lycra on the resultant properties of lycra core spun yarn
