Abstracts: Diesel generating sets are the most common captive power stations. The exhaust gases of these gensets have a very large amount of heat (about 600 degrees Celsius), which is wasted, can be effectively utilized. The waste heat of the exhaust can run a central air conditioning plant based on vapour absorption plant. For air conditioning system Li-Br water solution is best suitable and eco-friendly. Air conditioning plant based on vapour absorption system can be design, which uses waste heat as input can be possible. LMTD method for heat exchanger design can be used to design component of vapour absorption system. A diesel generator set of 1200 Hp can be able to produce 186 TR cooling capacity. A C-Language program is generated which gives the size of component of vapour absorption system by giving required inputs.
