Coal handling plant
A coal handlingplant is a facility that washes coal of soil and rock, preparing it for coal fired power plant. It may also be called “coal preparation plant(CPP)”, “coal handling and preparation plant(CHPP)”.
CHP COMPONENTS
Wagon tippler
Conveyer belt system
Crushing machina in CHP
Operational cycle: It consists of the bunkering cycle, stacking cycle and the reclaiming cycle.
Wagon tippler: It used to unload the wagon which takes coal from mine. In DPL BOBR wagon tippler is used. BOBR stands for Bottom Obtaining Bogy Rake. Generally one wagon consists of 55-60 metric tonn coal.
Conveyer belt system: It used to trnasport coal to various part of the power plant. Generally from crusher&reclaimer, coal mill, bunker lastly by the the help of PA fan to boiler.
Crusher machine: It is used to crush the coal to a particuler size 200mes. This machine also used for reclamier process. This crusher machine also consists of a bucket wheel which takes main part in the operation.
BOILER
A Boiler or steam generator essentially is a container into which water can be fed and steam can be taken out at desired pressure, To convert chemical energy of the fuel into heat energy
The basic components of Boiler are: -
Furnace and Burners
Steam and Superheating
ECONOMISER
It is located below the LPSH in the boiler and above pre heater. It is there to improve the efficiency of boiler by extracting heat from flue gases to heat water and send it to boiler drum
Air preheater
The heat carried out with the flue gases coming out of economiser are further utilized for preheating the air before supplying to the combustion chamber. It is a necessary equipment for supply of hot air for drying the coal in pulverized fuel systems to facilitate grinding and satisfactory combustion of fuel in the furnace.
Reheater
Power plant furnaces may have a reheater section containing tubes heated by hot flue gases outside the tubes. Exhaust steam from the high pressure turbine is rerouted to go inside the reheater tubes to pickup more energy to go drive intermediate or lower pressure turbines.
Cooling tower
The cooling tower is a semi-enclosed device for evaporative cooling of water by contact with air. The hot water coming out from the condenser is fed to the tower on the top and allowed to tickle in form of thin sheets or drops. The air flows from bottom of the tower or perpendicular to the direction of water flow and then exhausts to the atmosphere
Transformer
A transformer is a device that transfers electrical energy from one circuit to another through inductively coupled conductor. A varying current in primary winding creates a varying magnetic flux in the transformer's core and thus a varying magnetic field through the secondary winding. This varying magnetic field induces a varying electromotive force (EMF), or "voltage", in the secondary winding. This effect is called mutual induction.
Circuit Breaker:
circuit breaker is an automatically operated electrical switch design to protect an electrical circuit from damage cause by overload or short circuit. Its basic function is to detect a fault condition and, by interrupting continuity, to immediately discontinue electrical flow. Unlike a fuse, which operates once and then has to be replaced, a circuit breaker can be reset (either manually or automatically) to resume normal operation.
