Abstracts: The triplex plunger pump is used to pressurize milk under the pressure of 17 MPa to 25 MPa. The crankshaft in plunger pumps to transmit reciprocating motion from the rotational motion. This is multi throw type of crankshaft (614 mm length) with the three crankpins. The case of Crankshaft hardened by plasma nitriding, to get the surface hardness of 1000 HV. The crankshaft failed twice during its inspection and operation respectively. The failure occurred at crankpin 2 it is necessary to prevent the failure of the Crankshaft for smooth and continuous running of pump. The present work attempts to study and analyze the existing design of the Crankshaft of Triplex Plunger Pump and rectify the same under the dimensional limitations at IDMC Ltd. In the basis idea about project is given. The next chapter introduces to crankshaft and its function, crankshaft materials, manufacturing and heat treatment of crankshaft. Contains objectives of project, its Relevance and solution Methodology to work on it. The given information about failed crankshaft. It further introduces to material of Crankshaft, it’s chemical composition, mechanical properties, manufacturing and heat treatment of crankshaft, application of crankshaft and failure of crankshaft in triplex plunger pump. In chapter analysis and mechanical property test of crankshaft material is shown. The metallurgical and hardness test of crankshaft material. The following Chapter shows the calculation of bending moment with determination of Horizontal and vertical force, twisting moment calculation, Calculation Of equivalent bending moment and stress, permissible stress calculation and Calculation of crankpin diameter for permissible stress. Next with static loading condition for analysis, determination of stress from Analysis and results of analysis of crankshaft with graphical representation. Next gives brief fatigue, fatigue failure and occurrence of fatigue failure and And also contains calculation of finite life strength for crankshaft material In next chapter from analysis and calculations crankpin diameter of 99.942 mm is suggested with big end bearing size of 99.942 mm. Last deals with analysis of crankshaft with 99.942 mm diameter parameter. Chapter also contains analysis summary and modified design parameter Of crankshaft with crankpin diameter of 99.942 mm.
