TO INTERFACE GSM MODULE WITH 8051(AT89C51) USING PC & LCD

INTRODUCTION
This project is an extension of interfacing microcontroller with Hyper
Terminal and GSM module.
In this project the SMS typed at Hyper Terminal is display on a
16*2 LCD through GSM Module and microcontroller using AT Command.
BLOCK EXPLANATION
COMPUTER:
The data to be sent are typed at computer which transmit serially through
the transmit pin (Tx) of RS232 interface.
The GSM modem need AT command are sent by the computer.
GSM MODULE:
In this project we have to use SIM 300 GSM Module.
This GSM Module provide communication between computer
and GSM system.
It receive and transmit the data.
WHY CHOOSE SIM300:
Control via AT commands
SIM application toolkit
Supply voltage range 3.4v-4.5v
Low power consumption
MICROCONTROLLER:
We have to use AT89C51 microcontroller. It is an 8-bit microcontroller.
The microcontroller is used to interface with LCD and GSM Module.
The microcontroller receive message from GSM Module and transmit
to the LCD
LCD:
LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) screen is an electronic display module.
16*2 LCD is used in this project for display the message.
This LCD has two registers, Command and Data. The command
register stores the command instruction given to LCD. The data
register stores data to be displayed on it.
CIRCUIT EXPLANATION
The SMS typed at Hyper Terminal get transmitted serially through the
transmit pin (TX) of RS232 interface to the GSM Module.
The modem needs AT Commands for interacting with controller which
are communicate through serial communication. The AT commands are
sent by the computer to the modem.
The data transmitted by GSM modem is received by MAX 232
through receive pin 12.
The MAX 232 IC convert the TTL/CMOS logic level to RS232
Logic level during serial communication of microcontroller with
PC. Because the controller operate at TTL logic level(0-5v) whereas
the serial communication in PC works on RS 232 standard.
The MAX 232 transmitted data at TTL logic level through pin 12
to the controller. The microcontroller receive data through the receive
pin 10.
Pin no. 21 to 28 of microcontroller is the higher order address bit which
is connected to the 8-bit data pin of LCD which display the output
on LCD.
APPLICATION
There are many different kinds of SMS application in the market today.
Person to person text messaging.
To send information such as whether report, financial data to their
subscriber.
SMS is very suitable for delivering alerts and notification
of important events.
SMS messaging can be used as a marketing tool.
