INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this mid semester report is to provide information about the progress of the project ‘To simulate and LPG Based mems sensor using COVENTWARE’’.
THE IDEA
The idea behind the model is simply of a cantilever design. When the force is applied on the top surface of the cantilever the beam bends thus giving us the required actuation. The actuation can be read as it is or it can be converted into some other signal and then read.
What is the difference between such a sensor and a normal pressure sensor? This can be the first question that comes to one’s mind. The fundamental difference that is is of the material that is used.
To sense the LPG gas we use alpha Fe2O3 which has the property to sense LPG. The LPG gas gets easily adsorbed onto the surface of alpha Fe2O3 which provides the necessary pressure to deflect the beam. We use alpha Fe203 in a nano-rod configuration as it gives a better accuracy.
WHAT HAS BEEN DONE
The model of the design is complete. It has been modelled using coventware and the pressure analysis has been dome using the MemMech Solver given in the analyser tab of coventware.
