THEORY:
Torque is an angular displacement or twist in the shaft in a calibrated length of torque tube attached to the shaft. Measurement of torque has high importance in the field of science & technology. This torque when acting alone the circumference of the cylindrical shaft can be measured by using a variety of sensor with proper signal conditioning. Use of strain gauges for such a purpose can be studied using this module. Dynamic measurement of the torque transmitted by a rotating shaft on a calibrated length of torque tube attached to the shaft.
The station is sensed by the transducers and is measured. The strain measurement is then interpreted in terms of torque by proper calibration. A number of physical effects and devices can be used for measurement by relative angular displacement strain by Piezo sensitive variable inductive and magneto-strictive effects.
PROCEDURE:
1. Switch on the power supply to the module. Vary the zero adjustments potentiometer to set for the null position in the module.
2. Now apply 10 loads of 100gm and adjust the gain control so as to develop a voltage of 5V at the output point.
3. Unload the beam. Now the Module is ready for measurement.
4. Apply load on the beam and measure the bridge output voltage.
5. Repeat the step 4 by gradually increasing the load.
6. Tabulate the readings and plot the graph between applied load Vs output voltage and displayed load Vs %error.
