Structural, Schmuctural:Bring on the code!
Structural testing’s purpose is to uncover errors introduced during the coding phase of programming.
The goal is to evaluate that all aspects of the structure have been tested and that they are sound, meaning
The whole program works when all the pieces are brought together into a cohesive unit, and
The components function correctly within the framework of the whole.
Load / Stress Testing
Objectives:
Normal or Above normal volumes of transactions can be processed within the expected time frame
The application system is structurally able to process large amounts of data
System capacity has enough resources to meet expected turnaround times
People can actually use the system at peak times.
Security Testing
Confirm that confidential information is secure (with protective procedures and countermeasures) by:
Determining that the resources to be protected are identified
Defining access for each resource
Evaluating whether designed security procedures have been properly implemented and function in accordance with the specifications
Attempting unauthorized access to ensure that the system can identify and prevent access by unauthorized sources.
