The Digital Library: The Bulgarian Case
ABSTRACT
It is quite obvious and natural that the more you go to the south of Europe or South-East of Europe, the less
well-structured and organized the national library and information systems you find. Not surprisingly, not even a single project
which could be characterized as the National Digital Library Initiative has been developed in Bulgaria on a national level up
until now. So, the very few modest local initiatives with relation to what could be defined as the ‘Digital Library’ have been
started by some libraries, nongovernmental and private institutions. It is worth mentioning the following examples.
