COMPANY PROFILE
Background and inception of the company
Dairy developmental activity in the District was initiated during the Year-1975 under IDA assistance as a part of Bangalore Milk Union Ltd., (BAMUL). Subsequently the District was bifurcated from an operational area of BAMUL to form a separate Milk Union with effect from 01-04-1987.
Animal husbandry is the most preferred allied activity in the District, which contributes substantially to the total income of the District and Dairy farming forms the major activity under this sector.
The total geographical area of Kolar District is 8200 Sq. km. with 2889 inhabited Villages and approximately 26,00,000 total population. The average annual rainfall in the area is about 750 mm. The total Cattle population in the milk shed area is about 6,79,380, which includes 1,66,050 Crossbreed cattle, 3,65,730 Native cattle and 1,47,600 Buffaloes. The union procures on an average 7 lakhs liters per day and sells on an average 1.8 lakhs liter per day. There are 365 bulk milk coolers, 118 automatic milk collection centers and 94 community centers in the union.
NATURE OF THE BUSINESS CARRIED
The nature of business of KOMUL is procuring of milk from the milk producing co-operative society. The plant carries out its functions of processing the milk and distributing the milk continues and regularly. KOMUL also had undertaken the production of other by products of milk. These products are pedas gee, milk powder, cheese, etc.

MISSION:
The mission of this co-operative milk producer's organization is to eliminate middlemen and organize institutions owned and managed by the milk producers by themselves, by employing professionals. Achieve economies of scale and to ensure maximum returns to the milk producers, at the same time providing wholesome milk at a reasonable price to urban consumers. Ultimately, the complex network of co-operative organization should build a strong bridge between masses of rural producers and millions of urban consumers and achieve a socio-economic revolution in the vicinity of the territory.

PRODUCT PROFILE
TONED MILK: Fresh and pure Milk available in 250ml, 500mll and 1 liter packs. Better to be used within a day from the date of packets.
HOMOGENIZED MILK: This Milk is consistent right through; it gives you more cups of tea or coffee and is easily digestible. This is available in 500ml, 1 liter and 5 liter packets.
CURDS: ‘Nandini’ curds are made out of pure Milk. It is thick and delicious, giving all the goodness of homemade curds. It is available in 200gms and 500gms packets.
BUTTER: Rich smooth and delicious, ‘Nandini’ butter is made out of fresh pasteurized Milk cream. Any preparations made from this will be a delicious treat. It is available in 100gms (salted), 200gms and 500gms cartons both salted and unsalted.
GHEE: ‘Nandini’ ghee is made from pure butter. It is fresh and pure will a delicious flavor. Hygienically manufactured and packed in a special pack to retain the goodness of pure ghee. Shelf life of 6 months at ambient temperature. This is available in 200ml, 500ml, 1-liter sachets, 5-liter tins and 15kg tins.
FLUID MILK: Currently two types of HTST pasteurized fluid Milk in processed and packed. They are toned Milk with 3% fat and 8.5% SNF (Solids Non Fat) and full cream Milk with 6% fat and 9% SNF. Both are packed in the units of ½ Liter and 1 Liter Fluid Milk is sold in bulk to other dairies both inside and outside the state.
