Glen Rose is a city in Somervell County, Texas, United States. Glen Rose is famous for

Biking, Texas Amphitheater and many more.
The Promise was at first developed by Word Music in assistance with Kingdom
Development Company from the original script by Jan Dargatz and with music created
by Gary Rhodes. The Promise was narrated by a grandfather and his grandchildren,
the story begins on the banks of the Paluxy River in historical Glen Rose, Texas.
When the topic of dialogue changes from dinosaur tracks to the upcoming birth of the
grandchildren’s youngest sibling, they are reminded that every life is special to God. In
fact, one baby was so special; God gave Him as “A Promise”.
As the grandfather begins to sing about this Promised One, they find themselves among
the prophets of The Old Testament foretelling the Life of Christ. As grandpa continues,
they are later present at the birth place of Jesus, in the midst of shepherds and kings.
Straight out of the pages of scripture, the narrators and viewers witness the birth, life,
death, rebirth and successful ascension of Jesus Christ. Utilizing an award-winning
musical score, live animals, and a cast and crew of over 150 dedicated Christians, The
Promise is sure to be the most memorable theater experience of a lifetime. The Promise
is a musical, which is what sets it aside from all the other American passion plays. The
producers of The Promise musical seek to creatively present the essence of the story of
Jesus. The story of the Life of Christ is timeless. The performance season, however, is
not. In 2010, The Promise will be celebrating its 22nd season in Glen Rose, Texas with
18 scheduled performances starting September 3rd and continuing through October
30th on Fri and Sat evenings. This all has made an exciting, live musical drama, a Texas
tourist destination, and a powerful testimony to the entire world.
Similarly Dinosaur valley State Park is also located just outside of Glen Rose, features a
large number of dinosaur footprints, the Glen Rose Formation, in the bed of the Paluxy
River. The park is one of the top local tourist attractions. Dinosaur valley State Park land
for the park was acquired from private owners under the State Parks Bonds Program
during 1968 and opened to the public in 1972. Eastward-dipping limestones, sandstones,
and mudstones, deposited from approximately 113 million years ago along the shorelines
of an ancient sea, form the geological setting for the park area. Over the last million years
or so, these layered formations have been dissected and sculpted by the Paluxy River
which, in many places, has cut down to resistant beds and planed off sizable exposures of
rock in the river bottom.
Some have claimed Dinosaur valley State Park have discovered fossilized human
footprints among the dinosaur prints, though scientists have since concluded that
weathering and erosion caused some animal prints to appear human. Other activities
include which takes place in Dinosaur valley State Park are camping, picnicking, hiking,
mountain biking, Equestrian use in a separate 100-acre area (no horses furnished), river
swimming and fishing, and wildlife observation.
