The seminar 2kva modified sine wave inverter is a design or circuit that produces pwm (pulse width modulator) from a discrete component or from a microcontroller. It’s all depends on the outputted wave form from an oscillator. In this design we make use of a microcontroller, use in producing the modified sine wave form and also using some biasing component in helping the microcontroller.
INTRODUCTION
Every electronic enthusiast will know how difficult it is to design an efficient sine wave inverter circuit. A sine wave being an exponentially varying waveform is difficult to optimize. Also, unless a PWM technique is employed, the transistors may dissipate too much of power in the form of heat, wasting precious battery power. A modified sine wave inverter is relatively easier to design and the cost involved in building one is also much cheaper.
Modifying Sine Wave Using Discrete Square Waves
Referring to the figure alongside (click to enlarge) we can see an interesting design of a single modified sine wave cycle made by chopping a few square waves. Here, each positive and negative half cycle contain 3 discrete individual narrow square waves, each block is separated by a notch, the center two “pillars” are identical but are twice in magnitude than the extreme ones.
MICROCONTROLLER
A Microcontroller is a computer-on-a chip. It is a type of Microcontroller emphasizing self-sufficiency and cost-effectiveness, in contrast to a general-purpose microprocessor (the kind used in a PC). The only difference between a Microcontroller and a microprocessor is that a microprocessor has three parts-ALU, Control Unit and registers (like memory), while the Microcontroller has additional elements like ROM, RAM etc.
PROGRAMMING THE PERIPHERIAL INTERPHASE CONTROLLER (PIC) 16F84
PIC MICROCONTROLLERS:
When studying the PIC series of Microcontrollers, the first thing to realize is that the architecture is completely different from anything you are probably used to. This makes understanding the PIC quite confusing at first. You are probably familiar with the spinal cord type of computer with memory, CPU and peripheral chips hooked in parallel to the same data and address bus. The PIC chips have two separate ‘data’ busses, one for instructions and other for everything else. Instructions are essentially in ROM and dedicate the Microcontroller to doing one task.
CONCLUSION
In this project work, the 2kva modified sine wave inverter was constructed, the construction made use of the fact that the sensitivity and input resistance of the microcontroller base running light decoder is increased when the decoder decodes the voltage signal supplies by the microcontroller instead of the circuit under test.
