Abstracts: Economic growth is like a heart of the organization. If it’s a heart, the productivity is a respiration system of company. Inventories are like oxygen. To keep our body fit and healthy we have to follow good diet. Same, to make realistic economic growth, inventories have to be utilized in optimum way. Economic growth is directly proportional to productivity of company. Productivity decides the efficiency of the company. The efficiency of the company depends upon time taken in every process of product manufacturing. There are certain ways to achieve optimum productivity without affecting cost and quality of product. One of the best ways to maximize production rate is to utilize waste time in productive work. This waste of time is mostly by wrong layout or defective process flow lining or wrong inventory flow linings. By adopting optimum process cum inventory flow linings, the waste or mismanaged time in movement of inventories between various stations can be reduced successfully. There are various techniques used for reducing wastage in time. Time study, method study, inventory flow patterning, layout identification and modifications, recording techniques are major used techniques. The core of our case study is to improve time taken in production of a Gravure Cylinder in Shilp Gravures Limited by using these techniques. We know that better the optimization of the time, higher the productivity of organization. So the problem we are to face is to examine the time taken to produce a Gravure Cylinder is optimum or not and if not, the objective would be to improve the product cycle. The expected outcomes from the same are better productivity, better workers and employees’ satisfaction and customer satisfaction due to time to time delivery.
