Abstracts: This paper offers an overview of the technologies for hydrogen production. The technologies discussed are reforming of natural gas; gasification of coal and biomass; and the splitting of water by water-electrolysis, photo-electrolysis, photo-biological production and high temperature decomposition. For all hydrogen production processes, there is a need for significant improvement in plant efficiencies, for reduced capital costs and for better reliability and operating flexibility. One of the major draw back during the hydrogen production is considerable amount heat loss through the heat exchanger and considerable amount of hydrogen during the operation is lost to the flue gases. This can be solved to a great extent by adding heat exchanger or by the heat exchanger reforming technology and by adding Pressure swing adsorption unit to recover the hydrogen losses or to amount of hydrogen losses and to incrase the plant efficency.
