Introduction
UPPCL will be professionally managed utility supplying reliable and cost efficient electricity to every citizen of the state through highly motivated employees and state of art technologies, providing an economic return to our owners and maintaining leadership in the country. In this seminar, the need for substations and the the equipments used for facilitating the generation ,transmisssion and distrbution are discussed.
The rating given of different equipments are the particulars used at a substation at Martinpurwa 132/33 kV substation in Lucknow. It is connected with two lines of 132kV from usually, where it gets supply and then here it is checked and converted to 33kV supply and passed.
A substation is a high-voltage electric system facility. It is used to switch generators, equipment, and circuits or lines in and out of a system. It also is used to change AC voltages from one level to another, and/or change alternating current to direct current or direct current to alternating current. Some substations are small with little more than a transformer and associated switches. Others are very large with several transformers and dozens of switches and other equipment.
The main bus 132 KV is connected to grid located at SGPGI and CHINHAT.
Now the line1 is parallel connected to lightening arrestor to diverge surge followed by CVT connected parallel. The transformer is connected to main bus through a bus coupler. The main bus has total capability of 2*40 MVA for 132 KV ,which is subdivided into 2 transformer parallel connected & other 2 transformers ,capacity of ( 40+40) =80MVA are parallel connected for 33 KV .The main bus 132KV is provided with switch gear equipment & a current transformer. This gives way to 4 feeders transmitting power to JAWAHAR BHAWAN, DALIBAGH, O.C.R,DARUSHAFA. The main bus is connected to jack bus or transformer bus through a bus coupler & 33 KV is provided with switch gear equipment.
LINE CONNECTION
There are three incoming and four outgoing at martinpurwa substation.
Incoming to 132KV
1.SGPGI
2.CHNHAT
0utgoing to 33KV
1.Jawahar bhawan
2.Dalibagh
3.O.C.R.
4.Darulshafa
SWITCH YARD
A switchyard is essentially a hub for electrical power sources. For instance, a switchyard will exist at a generating station to coordinate the exchange of power between the generators and the transmission lines in the area. A switchyard will also exist when high voltage lines need to be converted to lower voltage for distribution to consumers.
Therefore a switchyard will contain; current carrying conductors, grounding wires and switches, transformers, disconnects, remotely controlled arc snuffing breakers, metering devices etc.
The main equipments in a switch yard and therefore in a substations are..
a. Bus Bar
b. Isolater
c. Transformer
i. Type Of Transformer
ii. Cooling Of Transformer
iii. Protection Of Transformer
d. Circuit Breaker
i. Sf6 gas Circuit Breakers
ii. Vacuum Circuit Breakers
iii. Bulk oil circuit Breakers
e. Lighting Arresters
f. Wave Trap
g. Capacitor Voltage Control (CVT)
h. Reactor
40MVA TRANSFORMER
It is a step down three phase power transformer. The capcity of this transformer is 40MVA. and which can step down voltage from 150KV to 33KV/11KV/0.44KV.And the maximum fllowing current though the transformer is 525amp. The winding connection of transformer is given as :
Primary winding:-Star connection
Secondry winding:-Star connection
Tertiary winding:-Delta connection
There are fallowing parts of this transformer.
1. Main tank
2. Conservator tank
3. Radiator
4. Cooling fan
5. Primary winding,Secondry winding,Tertiary winding
6. Buchholz relay
7. Winding temperature relay/indicator; max temp-90degree
8. Oil temperature relay/indicator; max temp-80degree
