INTRODUCTION
GPS AND GIS?
GPS is the system that collect, store and
transfer data from a field system to an office based GIS.
A computer system capable of assembling, storing, manipulating, and displaying geographically referenced information i.e., data identified according to their locations…
Causes of Air Pollution:-
Emission of harmful gases from industries.
Emission of gases from vehicles.
Volcanic eruption.
Forest fire.
DATA GATHERING--
These are the following inputs for GIS---
Map showing industrial, transportation , residential areas.
Concentration of pollutants at these places.
Data required--
Spatial data:-
Longitude and latitude.
Elevation of atmosphere.
Attribute data:-
Concentration of pollutants.
Name of pollutants.
Meteorological data.
Population density…etc..
Implementation of Spatial data:-
Used in urban planning.
Used in determining the areas more prone to ozone depletion.
Identification of population affected by diseases caused by air pollution.
Locate the position of hospitals from industries.
Identification of areas affected by smog in winter.
