BRIEF HISTORY OF KOTA WORKSHOP
Foundation stone of Wagon Repair workshop, Kota was laid in November
1957 and the shop was commissioned in October 1960. The workshop is
equipped to undertake POH and ROH of all types of BG wagons operating on
Indian Railways.
WRS/Kota is the only workshop on Indian Railways which undertakes POH
and ROH of LPG wagons viz. BTPGLN and TG. In past, workshop primarily has
been doing tank wagons but the trend of feed from 07-08 has changed to wagons
like BOXN and BCN/BCNA.
The workshop also undertakes deposit works for conversion/modification
of rolling stocks. WRS/Kota has acquired ISO 9001-2000 in December’99 and ISO
14001 certification in March 2007. OHSAS 18001: 2007 certification has been
obtained in January 2010.
