ABSTRACT
The project work is aimed to design, fabricate and analysis of dual peristaltic pump. This pump is having a capability of pumping two different types of fluid to two different positions at same flow rate or at different flow rate. This pump is efficient at lower speed and also economical.
INTRODUCTION
A peristaltic pump is that, which transfers fluid via an elastic tube by squeezing the elastic tube with pair of rollers to elastically deform the tube.
Pumps alone do not create pressure; they only displace fluid, causing a flow. Adding resistance to flow cause pressure.
FEATURE BENEFITS OF PERISTALTIC PUMP
Fluid does not contact any part of the pump except the tubing.
No Seals to leak
Pumps liquids, gases, solids, or mixed phases
Can use one continuous piece of tubing from inlet to outlet
Some tubing materials can be easily sterilized.
Easy and fast product change—simply change tubing—no cross-contamination
Operates in any position (orientation insensitive).
Wide range of flow rates
Many types of tubing are available.
Multiple channel applications.
CONCLUSION
It is observed that, this type of pump has high volumetric efficiency, but it is also found while experimentation that, this pump works in low head. So this pump can be used only for low heads. The main drawback of the pump is that the flexible pipes wear out frequently.
This type of pump is best suited when a sealed pumping system is required where there is no contamination of the pumped fluid. This pump can efficiently pump fluids like water, paste, oil, liquid chemicals etc.
