What is Green Computing.ppt (Size: 159.5 KB / Downloads: 9)
"Green computing or green IT, refers to environmentally sustainable computing or IT."
This definition means preventing computers to damage environment or use computing to improve the situation of nature for any organisms, especially humans
GREEN DESIGN
Designing energy-efficient computers, servers, printers, projectors and other digital devices
GREEN MANUFACTURING
Minimizing waste during the manufacturing of computers and other subsystems to reduce the environmental impact of these activities
POWER MANAGEMENT
PC power management refers to the mechanism for controlling the power use of personal computer hardware. This is typically through the use of software that puts the hardware into the lowest power demand state available. It is an aspect of Green computing. Computer power management means there is control over how the computer consumes energy and integrates its components
MOTIVATION OF THE PROJECT
Major challenge faced by the researchers in green computing is efficient utilization of power. Most of the power consumed by the computing systems gets converted into heat energy while executing computing processes. This heat energy, generated in large volumes in the long run, could deteriorate the performance of the system and also affect the environment adversely. The computing systems must be able to do computing tasks in balance with the power required for the execution of those tasks. Idle time power leakage is another major issue in computing environment. The above mentioned issues have been the motivation of developing the computer power measuring tool
