As a manager of various teams of Java and Database engineers, I led the development of numerous applications with responsibility for technical architecture, code review, hands-on coding, and project management.
As an architect, I am responsible for promoting consistency in our technologies and processes, ensuring we are productive and nimble as a Technology organization.
Built a confidential product using world class team including Accenture, IBM, and R/GA. Responsibilities included assembling the team, and leading product design, development and implementation.
§ Followed web 2.0 consumer practices, with social interaction focus
§ Built website, Facebook app, and mobile app
Developed and implemented a company-wide operations system, allowing the company to migrate its business from brick and mortar to click and mortar and grow rapidly. Built VB2, a patented live-auction application, which allows buyers in 110 countries to bid on vehicles live in real time. VB2 live auctions made Copart the segment leader by selling over 1.5 million cars annually on the internet.
§ Hired and inspired a team of 230+ professionals to efficiently develop and support systems
-Global enterprise systems allowed growth from 40 to 157 facilities in the US, Canada, and UK
-Interface systems resulted in new national contracts with Hartford, AAA, and Allstate
-Built custom ERP systems with internal teams
-Managed 90 technical staff running 3 data centers
-Managed 140 engineering professionals in java, XML, HTML, DB2
-iSeries, Oracle, both in house and outsourced infrastructure.
Because of the efficiencies and effectiveness of the technologies designed and built:
-Revenue grew: $118 million to $785 million
-Operating Margin improved: 15% to 31%
-Net Income grew : $11 million to $157 million
-Market CAP grew: $196 million to $3.5 billion
Architected and lead team of 14 developing ww2.copart.com. Leading team Redesigning enterprise e-commerce site utilizing the following technologies: C#, ASP.Net, MVC 3, MVVM, NUnit, T4 Templates, Fluent Validation, JQuery Unobtrusive Ajax, KnockoutJS, AJAX.Net, WCF Services, SQL Server 2008 RC2, AS400, DB2, MYSQL, LINQ, JQuery, GitHub, Svn, NuGet and Java Solr for high performance, highly scabable enterprise search platform. Using Agile Methodlogy for SDLC.
I completely engineered a new CI process within Copart. Previously, a build usually took 2 to 3 hours and and only four were able to run at a time. The new CI environment consists of three linux servers (Java), a Windows server (Java or .NET builds), and a Solaris 10 server (just used for Solaris Packaging tools). I also implemented the Gearbox plugin to improve the load balancing of jobs and provide a higher layer of redundancy. This made builds that take the 20 minutes or less the new expectation.
Additionally, in order to store maven artifacts more efficiently, I architected an Artifactory solution which we recently transitioned to Nexus. At this point, I'm leading and working on efforts to get completed builds automatically deployed to dev environments, either via API (Resin API, for example), RPM (Normally SpringBoot applications). I'm reworking a completely new versioning process with the M2 release plugin to stop the deployment of SNAPSHOT versions to environments beyond Dev.
Completely reworked the SSL requirements for our PCI environment as well as the security processes for PII documents. Fixed several issues with JIRA and Confluence which was preventing authentication to AD.
Developed a comprehensive build testing plan which used Docker, Jenkins, and Kubernetes. Provided enhanced support for new Puppet modules and manifests as well as the utilization of Ansible for the provisioning of new Virtual Machines.
