Basic definition of sensor networks…
Is an infrastructure of comprised sensing(measuring),
Computing and
Communication elements that gives an administrator that ability to instrument,
Observe, and
React to events and phenomenon in specified environment.
Applications….
wireless sensor networks can be an
integral part of military command, control, communications, computing, intelligence,
surveillance, reconnaissance and targeting systems.
Health Applications
In some modern hospital
sensor networks are constructed to monitor patient physiological data, to control the
drug administration track and monitor patients and doctors and inside a hospital.
ZigBee
technology uses the globally available, license-free 2.4GHz frequency band. It enables wireless
applications using a standardized set of high level communication protocols sitting atop cost-effective, low-power digital radios based on the IEEE 802.15.4 standard for wireless personal area networks.
NETWORK LAYER (NWK)
The NWK layer is responsible for interfacing the MAC layer and the Application layer(APL).
This layer is also responsible for network formation and routing
Coordinator or router
End device
MEDIUM ACCESS CONTORL LAYER (MAC)
MAC layer provides the interface between the PHY layer and other layers.
This layer is responsible for generating beacons.
APPLICATION LAYER(APL)
It is a user defined layer , where the user develops application objects to function the device for various application.
There can be up to 240 application objects in a single device.
It is entailed in various application such as,
Home automation.
Industrial automation.
Health care and so on….
