XML-IS workflow
XML-IS
corrections are made in the pagination file and all PDFs—author-review proofs, ahead-of-print online Web PDFs, and final-print files—are generated from the application file itself.
An in-house validation tool checks the integrity of the XML every time it is exported from the application file.
XML-IS workflow gives good quality of the XML content.
XML_ First Workflow
In the XML-First workflow, corrections are made to the XML first and the updated XML is used to create the pages.
Copy-editing, if required, should be done in accordance with standard.
XML is considered to be the source and it is used for all updates to the content.
Once the dataset and .ready file have been successfully uploaded, a PDF proof should be emailed to the author, and editor where appropriate, or posted to a secure web site for the author to download.
The PDF proof consists of the PDF of the article (the same PDF with track changes as was included in the first proof dataset), the AQF and graphical and stereochemical abstracts (if required).
