ABSTRACT
Titan industries Limited (Titan) is a joint venture of the Tata Group of the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation. The company is principally engaged in manufacturing watches using quartz technology. The company’s three reportable segments include watches, jeweler, and others. The product portfolio of the company includes watches, jewelery, Gold plus,
Eye wear, and precision engineering. Titan’s watches are offered under various brands, namely, Titan, Fastrack, sonata, and xylys. Annually, the company manufactures round 11 million watches. The company is headquartered at Hosur, Tamil Nadu, and India. As of March 2009, the company operates 487 retail stores.
Every business needs funds for two purposes. One is for establishment and the other is to carry out the day operations. It needs some amount of working capital to meet its daily obligation. The need for working capital arises due to the time gap between the production and realization of cash from sales. Management of working capital is concerned with the problem that arises in attempting to manage current assets, current liability and their interrelationship between them. Objective the study is to analyze the working capital management of titan industries limited and give suggestion to improve it.
